WARRIOR WRITERS: U.S. NAVAL INSTITUTE

About the project

Located in Preble Hall on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy Museum welcomes more than 100,000 visitors annually, and houses exhibits devoted to the history of seapower, the development of the U.S. Navy, and the role of the U.S. Naval Academy in producing officers capable of leading America’s sailors and marines.

For nearly 150 years, The Naval Institute has provided a forum for ideas addressing controversies, issues, and trends pertaining to the navy and sea services. Warrior Writers: The U.S. Naval Institute is a temporary exhibit created to showcase these writings and the authors who continue to educate, inform, discuss, and write about their ideas as a way to unite in their dedication to the preservation of history and a continuing partnership to educate and inform for a better future.

Showcasing more than one hundred artifacts from the Museum’s collection, USNI, and individual authors, SFD juxtaposed visually engaging object displays with chronological interpretive content to convey the importance of this preservation and recognize the authors who boldly envisioned what the future could be for the service.

Working with museum staff, SFD provided all planning and design of exhibits, as well as supervision of exhibit fabrication and installation.
